Is Sophie Turner our new Lara Croft in Phoebe Waller-Bridge's 'Tomb Raider' series?

Ok stop doom scrolling, we have some potentially excellent news to share. Gaymers and Sapphics take note, we may have a new Lara Croft (yes, she’s queer and we won’t be hearing dissent on that subject) in the form of none other than our forever girl crush Sophie Turner.

Oh, is that not enough to get your heart in a pitter patter? Well the series is being developed by Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Oh, so now we have your attention. Good. According to Deadline Turner is currently in negotiations to star as the treasure hunting hottie. Previoiusly the publication shared that Turner was in the running for the role alongside Lucy Boynton.

If Turner ends up taking on the mantle of Lara Croft she would be following in the footsteps of several out stars and queer beloved girlies who have donned the shorts and holster duo (or voiced her in the game version) including Angelina Jolie, Keeley Hawes, Minnie Driver, and Alicia Vikander.

According to Amazon MGM Studios Head Jennifer Salke this new series is set to be “epic” and “globe-trotting” which if you’ve played the games or seen any of the adaptations sounds exactly right.

Well one thing you can count on is that we will be watching this for developments very closely and respectfully.
